Do something fun on the first day of the year: Come spend a couple of hours thinking, talking and writing alongside other people as we process what happened in 2025 and look forward to the future.

Maybe 2026 is going to be our time?

Back by popular demand: Last year this workshop was called 2025 is (maybe) gonna be my year, but this time I’ve changed both the number and the possessive determiner. 2026 is (maybe) gonna be our year. Once again, we’ll look back on the last twelve months, memorialising the scenes and people that felt important to us. We’ll record our moods, mistakes, triumphs, and the circumstances we’ve overcome to make it this far. Then we’ll look forward to the great unknown that is currently 2026, thinking about time, growth, what we want to write, and how we want to live.
But this year, there’s a slight shift in perspective: we’ll focus more on how we can collaborate and support each other—both within the workshop community and outside in your larger creative lives. I know it sounds ambitious, but I promise it will be fun too.
Let’s start the year as we intend to go on: writing alongside other people.
This workshop is for writers of any genre, at any level of experience. Maybe you published five novels, maybe you write pop songs, maybe you wrote a poem five years ago. Everyone is welcome.
If you’ve been a member of Zine Writing Club before, hi! Would love to see you. If you’ve wanted to join in the past but couldn’t commit to a six week session, hello! This is your chance. If you’ve never heard of Zine Writing Club, don’t worry. It’s a creative non-fiction writing community, and this is kind of a one-off special edition of it for New Year’s Day.
If you sign up and then you can’t make it, I will send you the recording so you can participate in your own time. Although, needless to say, I encourage everyone to be there on the 1st of January as it's kind of time sensitive. ;)
Everyone will leave the session with some new writing and refreshed artistic intentions for the future.
Let's take a moment to think and write together. See you in 2026 :)

2026 is (maybe) gonna be our year is led by me, Lucy K Shaw. Hi. I wrote several books including Woman With Hat, Troisième Vague and The Motion. I started Shabby Doll House in 2012. I have edited and published work by hundreds of writers from all over world, first online, and more recently in books too. I also run the Zine Writing Club, a fun, social, creative non-fiction workshop. You can read a little more about me & Shabby Doll House here, or listen to me talk about it here.
